Renaissance Faire Necessities

Greetings, Fantasy Nerds! Summer time is usually the time for Renaissance Faires! To get in the spirit of the season, we’ll be going over all the necessities to have the best experience and be in character for your local Ren Faire. 

Bags/Pouches

Having pouches to hold all your coin is needed for all of your trading endeavors!

WTF hand crochets themed pouches for scenarios just like this! Check them out at her shop here. 

Clever got these leather pouches and belt on Amazon. She couldn’t choose between the embossed dragon or the natural-looking pouch with leaf detail, so she got them both. There are a ton of similar sets, so you can find the color and detailing that you like best.

Bottles for Potions or Adult Beverages

Perfect to fit the aesthetic of Ren Faires, potion bottles are a necessity for any outfit, and to hold your adult beverages! The best kind comes with a clip so you can attach them to your belt or any type of outfit.

You can even find these vials that would be great for holding shots, while your potion bottle could hold a chaser. Or if you don’t want to bring beverages, just fill them with water, food coloring, and glitter for a witchy vibe!

Headpieces 

Headpieces like witch hats, flower crowns, or a circlet are the perfect addition to any Ren Faire outfit! WTF acquired this one at a Ren Faire, so keep an eye out when you’re pursuing the wares at yours!

Here are two different flower crowns that Clever has gotten at Ren Faires. The metal crowns are beautiful and great for a more formal outfit, while a lighter flower headpiece is more comfortable for all-day wear and pairs better with casual dress.

Companion or Familiar 

Having a mythical companion to accompany you on your journey is simply the best! It can add a personalized touch to your outfit that is sure to get attention. You will likely find vendors selling various wearable familiars at the Ren Faire, so don’t worry if you don’t have one yet.

Clever and WTF were both gifted one of these awesome dragons by our mom. We are in love and plan to bring them to our next Ren Faire!

Clothing and Outfits

You will, of course, need the outfit itself! You can choose to come in simple attire and add to your outfit once you arrive, or you can come dressed in full Renaissance cosplay. Below you can see a few of our different outfits!

Skirt Hike

At the Ren Faire you will do a lot of walking, so we suggest a skirt hike if you are wearing a skirt or dress. This will help keep your beautiful outfits clean and give you a better range of movement. You can go with a loop version to hold up one side of your skirt, or there are sets of clips that allow you to pull up both sides.

Jewelry

The right jewelry is the perfect final touch to any Ren Faire outfit. This is another item that is highly available at vendors, so leave some room in your outfit for rings or bracelets that you can take home as a souvenir!
