Better Days

Better Days

A gentle breeze kisses the forehead

The smell of sweetness and sweat surrounds

Petals fall with a fluttering touch

Sunshine and warmth absorbed

Memories of better days

What once was

Eyes open to reality

Ash and dust cover all

Cries of agony fill the air

Burnt flesh and sour poison

What is now

Will we ever return to better days?

Children laughing instead of screams

Crisp clean air instead of choking smog

Green fields of grass and flowers

Long gone replaced with gray and rubble

All we have is hope

Hope to return to calmer times

Can we rebuild

Or is all lost?
