Best Apps for Reading

Greetings, Fantasy Nerds! This week we’ll go over some of the best apps for reading, at least in our opinion, and we hope you find something useful!

My Library

If you have an extensive book collection, you may find yourself forgetting which books you already own, and which you just thought about buying. This is where My Library can be helpful! As you add books to your collection, you just scan the barcode to add it to the app. It is easily searchable by title, series, and author; so when you’re at the bookstore you can check which books by your favorite authors you already own or how far along you are in a particular series. To make book buying even easier, you can create a wish list of which books you want to buy next!

My Library has other uses as well, beyond book shopping. Clever uses it to keep track of the locations of books on her shelves, since you can categorize by genre, which is how her shelves are organized. The app also lets you mark books you have read to keep track of your TBR. You can even view statistics for your collection, like which author you own the most books from or what percentage of your library you have read!

Booklight

If you prefer reading physical books, Booklight is an awesome free app to have. It turns your screen into a soft book light. You can change the theme, which changes the color of the light, WTF loves using this feature for adjusting the atmosphere! You can add notes, which is useful for writing out your thoughts throughout the book, and you can bookmark which page you’re on. That way, if you ever lose your bookmark or don’t have one, just type what page you’re on so you don’t have to dogear those precious pages!

Spotify

If you enjoy audiobooks, Spotify is a great option. They have an excellent selection of books, and if you already use it for music, it’s a win-win! You can use Spotify for free, but you’ll experience more frequent ad breaks or limited book availability.

Kindle

Even if you don’t have a Kindle device, the mobile app is still a convenient way to read ebooks on the go. Amazon has basically every book out there available for download, including some free options. If you are a Prime member, you can even get the free monthly “First Reads”, which is your choice of a free early release ebook from a number of options.

Goodreads

Goodreads is a great resource for discovering books based on your interests. You can rate books, view others’ book ratings, and create lists of books you’ve read or want to read. It’s perfect for tracking your reading progress and staying organized, especially when, like us, your to-read list is long and easily forgotten! It also offers community features like giveaways and book clubs.

What do you think of our choices? What are you favorite apps for reading? Let us know in the comments below, we’re always looking for more!

Thanks you so much for reading!
