Welcome Fantasy Nerds, to our blog, Clever and WTF. Here we will be posting bi-weekly fantasy and other short stories that we hope you will enjoy! We will post to the blog every Sunday, and on the weeks between stories we will post about random topics mostly related to writing, reading, and fantasy. So, who are we?

Amber Johnson and Ashley Wong are sisters who love to write and read. Although our writing styles and tone are different, we both enjoy writing fantasy and other types of speculative fiction. We decided to start this collaborative blog to showcase our writing and connect with other Fantasy Nerds. We will take turns sharing our stories, so you will get one short story from each of us, every month.

We came up with the name for the blog when we tried to describe each other’s writing. Although it’s difficult to describe our writing in one word (or acronym), these are the first ones that came to mind. Amber’s writing is original and dark, and leaves you with that “what did I just read?” feeling. Her stories will keep you guessing and haunt you long after you finish. Ashley’s writing is clever and humorous, and will leave you with a sense of wonder. Her stories are full of relatable characters in engaging magical worlds. Both of our stories with leave you with deeper truths: Amber’s are dark inner truths, and Ashley’s are truths about the way we treat each other. We hope that our stories entertain you and keep you coming back for more!

Amber is a licensed cosmetologist by day, and a writer by night. She enjoys books that make you say “wtf did I just read”. A few of her favorite novels are The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Silmarillion and The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien, The Modern Faerie Tales by Holly Black, and Endless Night by Agatha Christie. Her favorite past times are a good book, or a good game. She currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her boyfriend, Ryan, and her brother, Connor. She has a dog named Appa and two cats named Sméagol and Gollum.

Ashley writes YA fantasy from her home in Florida. When she is not writing, she spends time with her husband and her rescue dog, Amy. She enjoys books that transport you to another world or time. Some of her favorites are any of the Harry Potter novels by J.K. Rowling, A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin, and A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas.  Ashley is a coffee addict with a fondness for cupcakes. While she uses her passion for justice as a victim advocate, she also enjoys writing daring female characters who fight against injustice in their own world.
